Diwali-the festival of food, lights and noise. The festival would always begin very noisily, with the neighbourhood kids bursting crackers as early as six in the morning. And you could always find me hiding under the bed. Then we'd have to get ready and wear our new 'jatang' clothes. It was amazing how a new dress colud make us so happy. Then came all the pujas and the food. And everybody puts on about three gazillion kilos. But everybody is like what the heck? its DIWALI!! In the evenings mum and sister would light all the diyas and I would pretend to help. And the best part would be sitting on the terrace watching all the rockets.Diwali was always marked by our neighbour-uncle hanging up his battered yellow star shaped lantern, which would stay there till new years eve. Good days those! But times sure have changed. Neighbour uncle has got a bright orange lantern now. :) Saw him hanging it up today.
Heres wishing everybody a super-duper Diwali!!!! Have a great time and don't worry about the gazillion kilos, you'll lose it just in time for the next festival!
